Available for pre-order from August 1, the Asus Rog Phone 6 is available in a single 18/512 GB version sold for 1299 euros. It’s an exorbitant price, but this gaming smartphone is still cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra or the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which offers similar storage capacity.
The Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ 2400 x 1080p resolution with up to 165Hz variable refresh rate, 720Hz touch sampling rate and a maximum brightness of 1200 nits. This is what allows it to be one of the most efficient in terms of gaming. Moreover, to date, no game requires a refresh rate of 165 Hz.
The Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro runs under the ROG UI overlay, a very light gaming version of ZenUI. Asus has integrated the dynamic themes of Android 12 as well as the Privacy Dashboard. Equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and its Adreno 730 GPU, all coupled with 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage and 18 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, the Asus Rog Phone 6 (and its GameCool cooling system) is a true gaming smartphone.

There’s no denying that Apple dominates the power and graphics performance debate. Its Bionic A15 SoC is simply more powerful than any overclocked Snapdragon. I was really surprised when I subjected it to several series of 3DMark benchmarks simulating intensive and prolonged gaming use over a 20-minute session. The iPhone 13 showed impressive scores but above all, it was not even hot.

Add to that an Oled screen with very well-calibrated colourimetry, solid autonomy and an angular design allowing good grip, and you have a very good proposal for gaming. On the other hand, the recharge blocked at 20 watts is much too long to chain gaming sessions without interruption and the smartphone does not have a dedicated gaming mode.
But you can tinker with your gaming mode via the iOS 15 settings (to block notifications etc…). I’d settle for the base iPhone 13 and only consider the iPhone 13 Pro to take advantage of the 120Hz ProMotion mode.

Red magic 7 Pro review: To play at 60 FPS with zero overheating
If you are looking for a pure gaming smartphone, then the Redmagic 7 Pro will be the best choice for you, with an unrivalled price/performance ratio. Not only does Nubia’s smartphone feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but it also tames chip overheating tendencies with a large vapour chamber plate paired with an internal fan that has ensured its stable (and high) framerates. all along
