This supports what Thoene says because Frost is taking the road that is convenient, not the one that is right. The poem is a perfect example of ambiguity which is why the poem is interpreted in so many different ways. The main discrepancies between interpretations of this poem usually include the tone of the poem. Most interpretations are based on whether or not the poem is optimistic or pessimistic.

The speaker chooses one, saying that one day; he will return and take the other, even though he knows it is unlikely that he will get the opportunity again.
Nothing Gold Can Stay doesn't really have any cultural details that are in it. This poem is not fantasy. It is reality and we know that because what he's describing is something real not a made up world. The poem is about real life no matter what you think the poem means. The mood of the poem isn't really cheerful and jolly, or mysterious or ominous, it's more just serious.
