This study aims to explore the barriers to evidence based practice EBP experienced by nurses working in a Maldivian healthcare organisation. A total of questionnaires were distributed to nurses in 5 healthcare facilities and completed questionnaires were returned. The results of this study show that the perceived barriers by the nurses in the Maldives are not significantly different from those reported in developed countries. For healthcare organisations in the Maldives, it is necessary to have a clear understanding of the barriers and facilitators to research practice in order to implement EBP. The findings of this study can be useful for determining strategies that can be introduced in the clinical setting to use EBP.

What is self- confidence? The dictionary defines self- confidence as freedom of doubt; belief in yourself and your abilities. My definition of self- confidence is believing in yourself. Many people lack the self-confidence and self-esteem needed to live a happy and healthy life. Self-confidence is satisfaction in oneself.
Self-confidence, as a basis for adequate behavior, should be distinguished from self-sufficiency. The positive assessment of the availability, quality, and efficiency of his own skills and abilities determine social courage in setting new goals and tasks, as well as the initiative which the person manifests at their implementation. General self confidence is a positive assessment of your own skills and abilities and very similar within the meaning of the concept of the general self-efficacy by Albert Bandura. Social courage is the opposite of social fears and is expressed in positive emotional background that accompanies any, including new, social contacts. Initiative in contacts is in readiness for such contacts.
By gaining knowledge, people are enabled to be confident in themselves and their abilities, become self-sufficient, and choose their future. It is valuable because it keeps kids healthy and fit. My next reason is that it allows kids to learn to face competition, and teaches them to work as a team. The last reason is that it raises self-esteem level, improves self-confidence, and helps kids deal with pressure. If kids join competitive sports it would create a much more developed society.
